 | 07:12 pm - photo challenge - landmark My landmark entry is offered with some irony:
The Forrester Viaduct is a notorious landmark of sorts in the West Bottoms of KCMO. It is the only by-pass for the train tracks on the Missouri side of the bottoms and was previously known to be the single worse strip of road in the state reputed to have the worst roads in the continuous states...
A month ago, a road crew began tearing off the old concrete and pavement and will rebuild the viaduct on it's remaining infrastructure. It will likely be a three year project. The image above shows the beginning infrastructure at the opening mouth of the by-pass. The new one will extend two more lots closer to me building, which was four lots over my shoulder when I took the shot.
If I don't miss the daily 6:30am train, I will lose five to ten minutes everyday on the way into work for the next three years.
*sigh*
I look forward to the new viaduct.

 | 07:25 pm - Landmark challenge Built in 1981, the "Peachoid" is a water tank for Gaffney, SC. It's a well know local landmark and is easily seen while driving by on I-85 between Spartanburg, SC and Charlotte, NC.

 | 02:02 pm I just joined this community, and I think some recent photos I shot might meet the Landmark photochallenge guidelines.
These were taken at Arabia Mountain near Atlanta, GA. Arabia mountain is Stone Mountain's less well known cousin. It's a huge chunk of granite studded with little pools of water and patches of rare moss.
I visited last Sunday with a few friends in order to fly our homemade kites:

 | 07:40 am - March photo challenge: Landmark Two Hono'lulu landmarks, both extinct (we hope) volcanic craters, are the familiar Diamond Head (Le'ahi) in the distance and the nearer Punchbowl(Pu'owaina) which is home the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, where many of our veterans are laid to rest.

 | 01:24 pm - March 2010 Photo Challenge- Landmarks Not 30 miles from where I live, up on the Blue Ridge Parkway, is an absolutely gorgeous building. The first time I saw it, was Oct 2007, when they were actually still finishing it.
Two weeks ago, we were up on the Parkway again, and I had to get another photo of it.
Syon Abbey, Copper Hill, Va.

Syon Abbey is the home of Benedictine Monks, is clad in imported Spanish Limestone and took nearly 7 years to build.
